Outstanding!
If you love pastry, and particularly baklava, this is the place. Different fillings, cool shapes and sizes. Staff are re helpful if you don't know what something is too!
I tried some of their other pastries, they were excellent as well.
Highly recommend if you're in the area. -

A few years ago it was great, just the other day the staff was so rude and the quality and value is a RIP-OFF.
I found another place and the Spinach Pie as they call it Spanakopita is so much better at other places.
a year ago I was at East General that what I vall it. This was the same experience. I found a food basics that imported from Greece at a fraction of the price.
I just dont think they care with how rude they are. Never again!

I wanted something sweet after dinner on the Danforth, and what better to get than a Greek dessert right? What I had on my mind was that custardy pastry with phyllo (I think) on top. Unsure of the name. I went in and described it. First off the lonely person that worked there did NOT look happy to be there. And when I tried to describe the dessert I wanted she tried to convince me there was no such thing and that I must be talking about a cream horn dessert. I finally saw the dessert that I wanted on one of the big trays and told her that's what I wanted she still argued with me saying that's not it. Anyways, we paid for a piece of that, and hubby got something that resembled a cannoli and we also got a few cookies.
Seriously the worst bakery items I've ever purchased. First off everything had that freezer burned/sat in the fridge too long taste. The custard dessert I got likely had more flour/cornstarch in the custard than anything else. It was quite stiff and flavourless. Stay away from this place! -

Would give zero stars if I could. The lady in the bakery was a bit surly. They have a lot of cakes and pastries. I love Loukoumades and you have to order 6 minimum. They were bigger than the size served at Athens Pastries. So I got 6. I bite into one and it was stale and doughy and not enough syrup. Paid $2.50 for it and ended up throwing it into the garbage. Yes I threw $2.50 out but it was one of the worse things I've ever eaten.

I was so excited to get to Pape and the Danforth to have some baklava. I decided to try Athena Bakery which is right next to Simone's Jamaican restaurant. Walking in, the bakery is filled with baked goodies and Greek traditional products to eat and accessories too wear. A young lady came out to help me from the back. She was polite but was not friendly and did not smile. I have a background in customer service, so I'm really big on a warm smile! I bought 3 varieties (1 with pistachios on top, traditional almond baklava and one in the shape of an egg roll) of baklava and a spinach and feta pie. I tried to make light convo with the young lady but she was so stern and never cracked a smile. I'm certain she understood English as she answered my questions on the various baklava. Oh well! The next day I tried the baklava and 2 out of 3 were average tasting. The spinach pie was not fresh and this disappointed me the most! I love a good spinach pie! I've had both these Greek pastries before so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about on the taste. My favorite was the pinwheel with pistachio sprinkled on top. Not sure I'll be back as there are plenty more Greek bakeries on the Danforth and on Pape!
